Related Services in Learner Programmes and Registration
Learner Registration on Learnership
Employers and training providers register learners on SAQA-registered learnerships via NSDMS. A learnership has a structured learning component and a structured workplace experience component, leading to a qualification registered on the OQSF. Learner registration triggers the Learnership Agreement and enables merSETA to monitor learner progress and certify on completion.
Learner Registration on Apprenticeship
Employers register apprentices on SAQA-registered apprenticeship programmes (learnerships in respect of a Listed Trade) via NSDMS. Apprenticeships include a practical workplace component and must culminate in a trade test administered by a QCTO-registered trade test centre. Trade tests in the merSETA sector are conducted by accredited trade test centres.
Bursary Programme — Learner Enrolment and Funding
Employers and training providers enrol learners on DG-funded bursary programmes that support full-time study towards NQF-registered qualifications at TVET colleges or Higher Education Institutions. Bursaries are a PIVOTAL programme type funded through merSETA Discretionary Grants and target scarce and critical skills in the sector.
