Related Services in Learner Programmes and Registration
Learner Registration on Learnership
Employers and training providers register learners on SAQA-registered learnerships via NSDMS. A learnership has a structured learning component and a structured workplace experience component, leading to a qualification registered on the OQSF. Learner registration triggers the Learnership Agreement and enables merSETA to monitor learner progress and certify on completion.
Learner Registration on Apprenticeship
Employers register apprentices on SAQA-registered apprenticeship programmes (learnerships in respect of a Listed Trade) via NSDMS. Apprenticeships include a practical workplace component and must culminate in a trade test administered by a QCTO-registered trade test centre. Trade tests in the merSETA sector are conducted by accredited trade test centres.
Learnership Agreement Termination
Employers or learners may terminate a learnership agreement before completion. Terminations may be one-sided (one party terminates without the other's consent) or mutual (both parties agree to terminate). merSETA head office processes one-sided terminations; regional offices process mutual terminations.
